New Era College of Arts, Science and Technology participated at the 2019 BIUST STEM Festival, Research and Innovation Symposium which was held from the 3rd – 6th June 2019 at Palapye. The event was held under the theme “STEM driven economy: Transforming research into profitable products and services”.
New Era College exhibited a revolutionary construction method that garnered a lot of interest from the public as it embraced using materials freely provided by nature such as sand, long sand bags and barbed wire. The building method comes from years of meditation, hands-on research and development by architect and CalEarth founder Nader Khalili. This research provided a base for the Construction Department at New Era College to put forth a method of sustainable provision of shelter to the less privileged and those looking to build an affordable and sustainable home.
New Era College is extremely excited to introduce a pre-engineering training programme for the primary, junior and secondary school levels across Botswana. This programme targets students between the ages of 8 to 18 with the hopes of exposing and integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) principles supported by a practical approach to learning. New Era College is confident that the exposure and education facilitated through this innovative tool through Tinkering Labs will go a long way in ensuring that our future generations gain knowledge needed to excel in STEM.
New Era College wishes to use this effective learning tool that is currently used in developed countries to enhance learning in Science and technology to form a solid foundation and a deeper understanding of the STEM principles.
